Here are the boys (our cats) finding out they may have a baby brother or sister in a few months time, as I’m pregnant!! Festo has his paws crossed 🤞🏻in the photo, and Theodore is a bit unsure I think 🙈🤣
Since the FET
I have been taking it fairly easy since the DEIVF transfer. I’ve had work, but done nothing strenuous to raise my heartbeat too high. On Friday afternoon around 3.35pm, I had a sharp pain/cramp down there, which I’m pretty sure was the embryo implanting.
So in the weekend I brought a pack of pregnancy tests. This is the first time I’ve ever brought any, as no chance of getting pregnant before now due to my Panhypopituitarism condition. It was quite emotional standing in Chemist Warehouse, deciding which ones to get!
On Monday I took the first one, and a faint line showed! Festo’s crossed paws seemed to have worked their magic!
I decided on not testing all the time, as a way of self-preservation, just kept it as once daily. The lines got bolder, so I felt a little assured when going in to do the official hCG-beta blood test.

hCG beta results
The hCG-beta blood test measures the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced by the developing placenta. It is a crucial component in the early stages of pregnancy confirmation.
This afternoon, Fertility Associates called me with the results of the blood test…
Anything around 50 would’ve been encouraging, but it’s 220! And I was told “Congratulations, you’re pregnant!”
Can. Not. Believe. It! 🤯🥰
As we eagerly await the second beta next Friday, we’re immersed in the wonders of the early stages of this tiny human’s growth. I love the Pregnancy+ app as it has 3D model renderings of the baby’s development, allowing you to zoom in to view intricate details. It’s so cool to know that its heart will be beating at the end of next week!
To be honest, it feels totally surreal and amazing to be growing a little human (still really early stages of course).
A few questions I’ve had asked:
How far along are you? 1 week, however as the embryo was implanted via IVF, the apps say over 4 weeks.
When is your due date? 13 Nov 2021 – my Uncle’s birthday coincidentally!
Do your cats pick up on the baby? I think Festo does, but not Theodore. Festo has laid his paws on my tummy once in the early stages (as pictured), and I think that’s because he can pick up on the extra hormones lol.
Do you have a name picked out? Mostly yes. If it’s a girl we know, we’re a bit stuck if it’s a boy. I’m a bit funny, and the name has to start with ‘K’, as our starting letters (J and L) surround it.
