Donor egg collection is booked

Egg Follicle Scan

October has been an incredible journey in our DEIVF process. Our remarkable egg donor embarked on her part, committing to nightly injections for the past 10 nights. This regimen aims to boost egg production for the upcoming donor egg collection cycle. Today she had the day 12 follicle scan, revealing promising progress.

The primary objective of the day 12 follicle scan is to assess the progress of ovarian follicles, fluid-filled sacs within the ovaries that contain immature eggs. Follicles generally grow larger as they approach maturity. The sizes are crucial indicators of their development and potential for successful egg retrieval. Another significant outcome of the scan is the determination of the date for egg collection, helpful for scheduling travel and making preparations.

Fertility Associates were able to give us a date for the egg collection based on the scan results. The anticipation is building as we’ve booked our flight to Christchurch on Wednesday, October 21, where the egg collection procedure is scheduled for the following morning. And our donor has granted me the privilege of being present in the room during the collection – which I’m so excited for!

Post-collection, Jonathan will contribute fresh sperm, initiating the intricate process of creating embryos.

Emotions are running high, a rollercoaster of excitement, immense gratitude, nervousness, joy, and worry. How does one cope?!! I just can’t believe it’s starting!
