A chapter I didn’t want to start to be honest. It continues to fill me with dread, trepidation, and on the flip side, enthusiasm and dreams of a new future.
What is this new chapter? My marriage ending, and a new future with our daughter Kaydence and what that entails.
Honestly, our relationship had always yo-yoed. When we were in sync, everything was rainbows and sunshine. When we were not in sync, it was erratic to describe at best.
The eternal optimist in me, always thought that we could make our way through the storms. After all, we have history, enough common interests, our cats and our joint life.
Priorities
With the new addition of our daughter to take over the pedestal placement and put first, it became apparent we wouldn’t make it after all.
A few months later, Kaydence and myself are calling Alice Springs home for a little while, while I find my feet and take care of her. We video chat to her daddy a couple of times a week. When we are not doing that, I’m sending pics or vids of her to him most days, and we also converse as friends.
Kaydence and I fly to NZ at the start of June so that they can spend time with each other, and we can see other family members, so I’m looking forward to then.
At the end of the day, I want them to have a great father-daughter relationship, and not have our divorce be a big thing. More of a ‘unfortunately it didn’t pan out as we had hoped’.
That is ultimately the truth, and shouldn’t cloud over Kaydence’s life. I just want her to feel totally loved and nurtured throughout her life. She is one special little girl that I’m just so besotted with.
