Rough Winter, Sick Baby

Kaydes unwell in Alice Springs Hospital

Worried. Stressed. Tired. Overwhelmed. 🙈

Just a few adjectives that go on when your baby (no matter how young or old) gets sick. It certainly challenges you, as it can be tough trying to take care of them and keep them comfortable. And this winter has been rough on so many!

Until recently, Kaydence has been battling her way through the flu and Bronchiolitis for a prolonged time.

She started daycare mid June and literally 2 days later became sick. Fortunately at that time, I hadn’t started my new job, so I was able to tend to her.

It’s so heartbreaking, to see little babies bodies fighting so hard. And of course they can’t talk and tell us how they’re feeling, so crying and wriggling in discomfort is the next best thing.

GPs in Alice Springs wouldn’t see her because she had a respiratory virus, so when things amplified, I took her into the hospitals Emergency Department to get her seen to. But all they recommended was Paracetamol and Ibuprofen for relief.

I think you can be pushed into the ‘over mothering’ basket, or ‘too hard and time consuming’ basket all too easily.  I knew something more was going on with Kaydence, but I’ll continue with that in another post.

This winter proved to be quite rough on lots of kiddos (and adults too for that matter!) 💕

I found that playing this Brahms lullaby on repeat, giving her a bath, or just rocking and shushing helped Kaydence calm down a lot.

I would love any tips or tricks that helped you soothe your babies? Comment below if you have any 🙂
